Originally from the Chicago area, Kristen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003 and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Arizona in 2005. She holds a California license in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Over the course of her career, Kristen has worked with children and young adults from the ages of 1-18 in a variety of settings, including in-home early intervention, public schools (preschool through high school), a non-profit clinic, and private practice. Her interests include early intervention, preschool language disorders, speech sound disorders, and parent training and education.
After working in a variety of settings for ten years, Kristen founded Del Sur Speech Therapy because she believes that working with children on an individual basis in their natural environment allows for maximum progress. She believes that parent involvement is critical for a child's success, and Del Sur Speech Therapy allows her the freedom to work closely with children and their parents.
When not working, Kristen enjoys spending time outdoors, cheering for her Chicago sports teams, and spending time with her family and neighbors in their San Diego community of Del Sur.
